What a Crazy Few Weeks

Stay Away From This Tow Truck

The day after we got married, we drove to San Francisco to be near the airport and were able to spend the day hanging out before leaving the next morning to Jamaica. While we were there, we decided to see the Harry Potter movie that had just come out and also decided we would go to a nice dinner. After leaving the movie theatre, we were stopped at a light so we could turn right, when a tow truck drove past the passenger side and hit us. We were both very shocked (surprisingly, with as many car accidents as the two of us have been in, neither of us have been hit from the side) and were sitting with our mouths open in confusion. The tow truck driver saw our reactions, heard a loud noise, and mouthed to us in his side mirror "did I hit you?" to which we replied by vehemently shaking our heads up and down.

We pulled into a gas station and he got out of the car and immediately started saying "I'm going to be fired....I don't think I hit you...I don't know how it was possible that I could have hit you, I wasn't that close to you..." We explained to him that he clearly had hit us, as the damage had only been done on the passenger side (right where he was) and the damage that was done was exactly at the same height as the tow part of his truck, not to mention that there was no one else to the right of us or behind us. After a while he agreed to give us his information, but we left feeling a little "iffy" about the whole thing.

We called Progressive right away (since we knew we'd be in Jamaica for the next two weeks and wouldn't have any time otherwise to get it all handled) and explained everything we could. Upon our return from Jamaica, we called the insurance company and they told us that the tow truck company had fired the driver and were denying having ANY INVOLVEMENT whatsoever with the accident. They claimed they had no idea how "Mrs. Howard had even gotten our insurance policy number." Hmmmm, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how I got their policy number, drivers license number, license plate number, a description of the car, address, first, and last name of the driver, and PHOTOS of the vehicle. Give me a break!

Today, we finally took the car in to be checked out and once again, Mrs. Howard is driving a rental car. Didn't we get rid of all this bad luck with car accidents when we sold the mustang????

Ahhh....to be lucky with cars!! Isn't there some type of quote that says if you have bad luck on the wedding day (or the day after - en route to your honeymoon), that you'll have a long and successful marriage??
