Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day

As a fifth grade teacher and thereby a teacher of US history, I am constantly talking about civil rights with my children. As I talk to my kids about tolerance and what is "fair" and just, Dr. King is never very far from my thoughts. I know, however, most people go through their days without giving him a second thought.

Perhaps tomorrow, we can take some time to reflect on all that he did for us and remember how blessed we are to live in a country where one person can make such a big difference.

I think we also need to celebrate the fact that for the first time in the history of the United States, we have an African American and a woman running for President. Finally we are practicing what we preach!

This is great to hear, especially coming from a teacher! I'm glad someone is sharing his legacy with our future.

Thanks for your encouragement about the thesis! I really appreciate it. I think we are very much alike in how we attack projects and organize our lives. I make little deadlines too! It makes sense; we are cousins afterall.
