After sitting and waiting with a 102 temperature for two days, Mr. Howard finally went to Urgent Care tonight (with a temperature of 103). And it's official! He has tested positive for Influenza, more commonly known as the flu. I don't know why, but I always thought the flu was just a cold - a cold that they could protect you against - but a cold none-the-less. No one ever told me that the flu is a serious disease. Had I known that, I wouldn't have ignored the 200 emails I receive every year from my employer giving me times and locations of places I could get vaccinations. While the doctor did tell us that no one has ever died from the flu (that, at least, is encouraging), she did say that some people feel like they're going to die (a confirmation that Mr. Howard was not, in fact, crazy).

The funny thing (and arguably this is the ONLY funny thing about Mr. Howard's experience) is that once the test results came back positive for Influenza, they treated us like we had to be quarantined. We were not allowed in the waiting room (they even brought the credit card machine in the patient room) AND they made us go out a SPECIAL exit, so as not to contaminate the other patients. LUCKY ME: I got to ride in the enclosed car with him. Too bad, I don't have a special door my sick hubby can go through so as not to contaminate me. :-)
