Yay For Contests!

My incredibly intelligent husband won a contest at work (to be honest, I'm sure he told me what he had to do to win the contest, but we'll blame it on preggo brain and not on my lack of listening). As his prize, he earned gift cards to Best Buy! So we decided to cash in some points we both had on our credit cards for more best buy cards and off we went to Best Buy to get a video camera (see picture) for the Baby, but don't worry, we will not be video taping the birth...hehe!!

We spent last night charging the battery and figuring out the basics of how to take a video, how to take still pictures, etc. and today I'm going to figure out how to upload it to the computer. I am amazed at the new technology and how far video cameras have come. My favorite part is that when you take a video and then stop it, it creates a little file on your screen. So I can just upload that one clip. I remember the days when you'd have to copy the whole video and then if you wanted to edit it, you'd have to sit there and do it manually with a vhs tape and your camera.

I remember our first video camera that my dad bought. It was enormous and you had to lug around this huge half of the VCR in a shoulder bag to recored stuff. It is like the first cell phones. Too funny.

And thank you for not taping the birth. I mean who would really want to watch that anyway, I would never want to watch a video of me in labor let alone show it to anyone else. I didn't even like watching the random strangers in that childbirth class. I will always remember the experience and won't ever need a movie to remind me. If parts of it are forgotten that really wouldn't be the end of the world. I think it is meant to be that way so you will have more than one.

I am 100% with you on the birthing videos. When would you get that out? Christmas? Birthday parties? No thanks! I'd rather have selective memory on that one (I'm going to choose to remember how beautiful I looked, with perfectly blowdryed hair, hardly any pushing, no horrible faces, hardly any pain, etc.). Now I just have to figure out how I can get Mr. Howard to have the same selective memory. :-)
