Show us Your Life - Organization Tips

Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner

On a blog I recently became a follower of, Leslie responded to this Show Us Your Life post and I thought, "Hey, I have a few tips I can share!" Being a mom has completely changed my NECESSITY for organization.

Diapers became a new struggle! I had no room for an outdoor clothes line; so, I used the space in the laundry room, where you can never find anything to fit, to make my own indoor clothes line!
Then, on top of the dryer, I created a bin to put the clean diapers (to make more room on the clothes line). I also needed a place to store Connor's dirty clothes (which I wash separately from our laundry). I have created labels for just some of my scrapbooking stuff. I hope to have that more organized when we finally finish our office! For recipes, I have created a Howard cookbook from a binder. In the front I have typed simple everyday instructions on things like how to hardboil an egg. This was actually created while I was pregnant because I had horrible morning sickness and couldn't cook, let alone talk about, food. My adorable husband would ask me what I wanted and by the time I had finished describing how to bake a potato, I had already gotten sick and no longer wanted the potato. I wanted a system that could help him if I wasn't around. In the back are all my recipes that I have collected. If it's something we love, I type it up and file it alphabetically in our binder. One day, when I have enough recipes, I'll make tabs for different sections...but for now, it only houses about 15 recipes. I created a binder for my little man before he was born, in order to house all of the documents we kept getting for him.
In it, I have four tabs: Daycare, Pediatrician, Hospital, & Important Documents. Under each tab, I store all the important information I need. The important documents tab is where I store his birth certificate, social security card, etc. so that we have easy access to any information he needs. I can also leave this for a babysitter, so that they readily have access to all his most essential information (like illnesses, healthcare number, etc.)
I love getting new ideas and perhaps have given you a new idea or two!

I really like your recipe binder idea. I had to make a small list for when I left jorden with aveline this past week. I also like to have the tips and recipes i like a lot but forget all the steps to. Great idea!
