Appliques: My First Attempt

Alright...so I was bitten by the Applique Bug today after seeing how easy it was to make an adorable shirt with just an iron and an applique. So, what would any normal over-worked, stressed, mama with a dirty house and fussy baby do?? Go to the Joann Fabrics and teach herself how to make appliques, of course!

My First Attempt turned out a little feminine (Hey! I had groceries in the car and a fussy baby in the aisle - I was picking out fabrics quicker than a lightening bolt)! But I liked the idea!
My Second Attempt was much less feminine and Oh-So-Cute!
I left them out on the counter for my husband to see and when he realized I had made them he said, "Oh No! Another craft for you to become addicted to!"

Alright friends and family...you may just be getting shirts and onesies for your little ones, for the rest of your lives because I am OBSESSED!!!!!

Hey!! I just found your blog from Leslie over at Lambert's Lately. I had to comment on this post, i totally could have written it myself. I have about 5 projects going right now and the little one and I were going to make a run to Joann's this afternoon because i want to make him two shirts.

Question...how did you do the name? It looks perfect!

In answer to your question Vanessa...I looked at a bunch of sites to learn. They are listed below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXTY7_3f6vw (there are a series of videos)
http://peptogirl.blogspot.com/2007/05/make-your-own-iron-on-patches.html

In answer to your question Sarah, I used the following site to get the templates for the letters and I just traced them onto the fabric and glue, and then cut them out!
