What a Whirlwind...

So, we came a family of FIVE (plus Cole watching over us from Heaven). Can you believe it? Within 24 hours, Aiden's doctor was telling us that he had improved exponentially. His white blood cell count was normal. The blood in his stool was gone. His biliruben levels had started to actually go DOWN (from 11 to 10 in a day). Prayers were answered!

So on Sunday morning when I went down to the NICU to do a feeding, the doctor told me I could take BOTH my babies home with me if I wanted. Hooray!!!! When Mr. Howard joined me (he was in with Isabella in the other NICU pod), the doctor asked him if he wanted to take both babies home. He laughed and I had to turn to him and say, "No! She's actually being serious!" to which he replied SHOCKINGLY, "YES! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?" We, honestly, had been under the impression it would be a while before we got to take him home. In fact, the last time we were talking, they were ordering him under the jaundice lights.

The other good news? Our other answered prayers? Isabella's second ureter doesn't look like it is going to be a huge problem (they went ahead and did an ultrasound since they were in the NICU already and because we were super adamant about wanting it). AND, it's possible Aiden's multicystic kidney has some function!! We won't know for sure until our nephrology appointment, but even the fact that they are thinking it MIGHT have function is HUGE!!!!

We are blessed. And happy! And home as a family!

Here are some photos from our NICU stay!
