Eat-in Kitchen

We still have several things on our Never Ending House To-Do's that we've never completed. This summer on our June/July Goals we added "Paint the Dining Room and Living Room" and we've spent a lot of time at Lowe's and online trying to figure out what color we want to do it. If it were up to my husband, every single room in our house would be beige; all our furniture would be beige; and our rugs and accents would be brown. Seriously! You know I'm not kidding if you've followed this blog enough because 99.99% of our house is beige and brown. So it's taking a little while to come to some sort of agreement. Shall we place bets on whether or not I'll just give in and paint it beige?!? Here is what our dining room looks like now. I don't know what to call this color. Copper? Orange? It is SOOO not me!!

I don't know why we never changed it; I've hated the color since the day we bought the house and it's the first room people see when they walk in. But it's just never been on the top of our list...until this summer!

While we debate about whether or not we're going to venture away from browns decide on a color, I noticed that target was having a sale on curtains. We actually bought our living room curtains at a very expensive home goods store (which is why we only bought four sets) and at the time we figured we'd go back and buy more for our eat-in kitchen area. But then life got busy and we never got around to it. When I saw that target had curtains on sale, I decided I was going to find some that would work.

Here is the before and after of our eat-in kitchen area. I was going to move the table, clean it, organize it, etc. and then I realized that this is my real life. So I just snapped this photo real quickly. I probably shouldn't admit this, but these curtains were $9 each for a total of $18.

Mostly I don't mind the way that kids have changed my house. It is filled with noise and laughter and I adore it. But I'll tell you one thing I won't miss in a few years: baby proofing. We had to push this table up against the wall and take all the chairs away because Connor was a climber. I'm always jealous of friends whose kids don't climb! Their houses look so nice! I do, however, know that this season does not last long and I certainly wouldn't trade the way kids have changed my home for the alternative. =)

Love the curtains, The fact that they are on sale is even better! We are currently in the hunt for curtains for our living room and our master bed room. I am painting our living room this summer. Our house was built in 2000 but it seriously looks like it is from the 90's. We have GOLD door knobs and all the paint is almost white. :(

Happy hunting. Trying to find the perfect color to paint a room is not fun. All I can say is thank God for samples! My wall currently looks like a patchwork quilt and, naturally, the color I thought I would love...I don't. So I have the accent color decided, but that's as far as I've gotten. After all that time, back to the drawing board...
