Big Changes

We've got some big changes in this household. First up?
Food. Finally.
I actually emailed my friend and said I didn't think we were going to be able to do cake at their first birthday party. Because even though they were eating baby food, when I gave them adult food or even larger quanitities of baby food, they would gag. And then. Miracles. All of a sudden it clicked for them. They ate apple slices (the soft mushy ones).
And then avocados. I have been following this trend of giving babies finger foods instead of mashed up versions (have you heard of it? It's called Baby Led Weaning). I thought it was worth a try, so instead of mashing up the avocados, I sliced them in long slices so they could hold them. Oh my word. They loved them. Aiden, especially. He ate an entire half an avocado by himself.
I have to say they didn't gag. I was kinda shocked.
And then, thirdly, if you've been following our facebook, you know our double stroller finally arrived. It's taken me 12 months to decide on a double jogging stroller we liked. Up until last week we were still using our infant one. The babies are still small and can totally fit in it, but Aiden was beginning to kick the back of Izzy's seat; she'd yell; then Aiden would get frustrated. And I knew we couldn't bring it to Disneyland in 2 weeks. It's a pain to put the carseats in and out and then you have to fully strap them in for it to be safe. I didn't want to do that 100 times a day at Disney. So I finally just made a decision!! We ended up going with the Grand Safari Swivel Wheel Double Jogger and so far love it. If you're interested, I'll let you know what I think after traveling with it.
Finally. The kids are interacting. I kept saying I couldn't wait for the day until they started interacting with each other. I desperately wanted Aiden and Izzy to talk, Izzy and Connor to talk, Aiden and Connor to talk. I know how important it is for kids to have siblings - how much joy they will get from each other and it's the one thing I take the most seriously in my role as mom: fostering those sibling relationships. So finally, Aiden and Isabella started interacting and talking and it's making my heart go pitter patter. Seriously. Try to watch this and NOT get super excited for them. I feel so blessed they will have each other for the rest of their lives. What bigger gift could I give them?
