Random Happenings

I'm working on Part 2 of the Twins' Birthday Party, but in the meantime - here's what we've been up to!

On my way to the DMV...
I had to renew my driver's license at the DMV (I needed a new photo) about a week ago and had to wait there for 3.5 hours. It was SOOOO frustrating because their computer system was broken (it went from G18 to G34 and skipped all the numbers - including mine - in between). When we brought it to their attention they told us there was nothing they could do because the computer system decides who goes next. Are you kidding me? I cannot imagine doing my job that way. I am sorry if any of you work at the DMV. I am sure somewhere there are workers who are amazing; I just haven't met them in my hometown DMV yet. Needless to say, thankfully, I do not have to go the DMV for like another 5 years.

We're getting very excited about Disneyland over here...
This was a little over a week ago:
And this was a couple days ago:
My cousin came the weekend before last and stayed with my parents! I snapped this photo with my sister's camera of Isabella, Adam, Aiden, Katie, Mr. Howard, and Connor. Aren't they cute? We had SUCH a good time visiting.

The twins both had kidney ultrasounds at the end of last week. THANK GOODNESS I had my mom come with me because I went to get our stroller out of the car and BOTH tires were flat. EEEk! I could never have carried two babies and a diaper bag and purse into the appointment with me by msyelf...plus held each baby during the ultrasound AND held the other one. I was joking with the lady at the front desk of the doctor's office that I didn't even know that tires on a stroller could go flat and suggesting I call Big O Tires. She was very sweet. When I went to check-in they realized we had back-to-back appointments for each baby in DIFFERENT buildings. One had an appointment at 9am in Building A and the other had an appointment at 9:30am in Building C. Thankfully, she fixed it for me!! We haven't had our appointment with the nephrologist yet, but I worked my magic on the technician and got her to spill a few things. Aiden's left kidney was completely atrophied (just as we thought it would) and Isabella's duplicated ureter is gone! Neither baby has any new cysts or problems with their kidneys that the technician mentioned. Happy news!

Mr. Howard's mom came in town a few days ago and brought with her lots of handmade outfits!
A cute dress:
Two adorable bubbles. Aiden's was a robot print, but it was too big. We'll save it for in a few months.
Today was a big day. First, We had the babies' appointment with OT. See THIS blog for a recap of how the other visit went. They did not qualify in OT because their evaluation put them at 11 months. This is good news! It means that they are on schedule. The therapist said that Aiden had AMAZING verbal skills for his age (he is mimicking up a storm - and even said, "dog" when he heard the dogs barking in the yard!). That is the first recognizable word I have heard him say independently without us saying the word first. Second, Mr. Howard started at a new store today. His commute has been cut in HALF. It's only a 35 minute drive now (instead of 55-60 minutes)! He had a wonderful first day.

Tomorrow we have a urology appointment for Aiden. Wednesday is Connor's swim lesson and the twins have a playdate with a set of twin girls who live in our neighborhood. Then Thursday I have a phone consultation with a doctor in Alabama who is doing a kidney study and is considering studying my family. And at some point we need to get two new tires for the stroller.  I love summers, but who said they're relaxing?! =) And then, of course, the day after Aiden and Isabella's first birthday I got a cold. Such a bummer! I guess my body felt like it could finally relax. I'm praying the kids don't get it before Disneyland.

I'm also going to do a post soon about Cole. Planning Aiden and Isabella's first birthday brought a lot of stuff up to the surface for me. I've also been missing my Aunt so much lately. I had a pretty good cry on Sunday morning about missing them both. I hope Aunt Karen is loving on my precious boy for me in Heaven.

score about the job relocation!! See, God listened when I prayed that would happen and you wouldnt move!! ;)

Awesome on the OT. I had a feeling while playing with Aiden on Saturday he would do great. Your babies are so beautiful.

If you need any help this week let me know. I am down 2 kids and a hubby...so whatever you need! If baby Connor wants to come play with big connor during the twins playdate, that would be totally fun! =)

So great on the babes kidney's and I kinda hope the doc finds it worthwhile to study your family and you get some possible answers.

You guys are always in our prayers and we know Cole is watching you guys and protecting you the best way he can!

I hate going to the DMV for that reason...it takes forever!! Poor thing - 3.5 hours is a long time!

Love the outfits, what a talented mother-in-law!

How exciting to be going to DisneyLand, we need to make the trip sometime soon.
