Our Dining Room/Living Room

I have mentioned before that when we moved in, I hated this copper in our living room and dining room. It just wasn't me AT ALL. I don't know why we never changed it; but I guess other rooms took priority. So, this summer I decided that I would add "Paint Living Room/Dining Room" to my list of goals.
We had the hardest time agreeing on a color. My husband is a fan of browns (you know I'm not lying if you've ever seen our house - almost our entire house is some form of beige). I love browns, but I wanted something different and so we both started "pinning" ideas. Thankfully, after seeing some rooms pinned, my hubby agreed to go with grey! Our plan is to do yellow accents and we have a plan to get a white couch for this room too (my mom and dad are gifting us their beautiful white formal couches). It also became glaringly obvious that we need a new chandelier (funny how paint can do that, right?) and we're still debating about our frames (not sure if we're going to paint them or leave them). Anyway, all this to say that it's still a work in progress. But at least now I'm not embarrassed to have people come in!!

During. Installed chair rail. Began trim painting. You can see from the photo below that we had initially planned on putting white on the bottom. We then found a great room on pinterest (as inspiration) that did a chair rail with the same paint color on top and bottom (but then added frame moulding to the bottom half). That is our plan.
My husband is an expert trim guy. Seriously. You know the craziest part? He actually enjoys doing it!!! Yuck!

What do you think of the paint color?
It certainly lightens the room. I do think having the white couch will really transform it too, but I'm just not sure if I should keep the dark brown frames (because of the dining room table) or if I should go with a different color (like white? or yellow?). I'm going to keep my eyes peeled on pinterest for more ideas. What do you think?
I found THIS chevron yellow fabric that I was thinking about making curtains with. I think it'd look great with the white couches and since I'm buying fabric, I could make my own matching throw pillows. I just am concerned about it matching with the dining room table (my dad made us that table and it's staying!). If I do go with the yellow chevron fabric, I could also re-cover the dining room chairs with it. Then we'll need a new rug for under the table. Help?! Haha!

So, we crossed one thing off our House To-Do List and added a few more: picture frame moulding, new couch, yellow accents, different color frames (maybe?), and new chandelier! Isn't that how it always is with projects? They are never ending!

I Love the color. After this weekend when we finish painting our living room I'll post our before and after. We have the picture frame moulding your talking about with chair rail. I like the fabric.

awesome color. you know we are doing our master in grey and yellow..so I fully like!! =) I think yellow and white frames would be awesome. 1 or 2 of each color. Love the curtain idea. I am not a fan of chevron styles, but knowing you...I think it suits your style well!!

I think if you got a different rug under the table, one with yellow accents maybe? it would really tie everything together. the frames accent the wood of the table. And I am in love with the yellow and white chevron fabric! definitely use that!

The rooms are soooo much brighter and cheerier! Super excited to see the end result - I agree that the picture frames bring the two rooms together (accenting the table)....D

Looks great! We just painted our living room & kitchen gray, too! I spray painted all of our frames white & am in the process of making a gallery wall! Love mini makeovers! :)

Your rooms were in no way ugly before but the new color is smashing in there! Love the white chair-railing accent too! The white couches will be beautiful and you are one gutsy mama to have white with such little ones.

Have a wonderful weekend...Tracy @ Cotton Pickin Cute
