14 Months Old

Aiden learned how to walk! In his thirteen month update I said he was so close and then he started walking on August 23rd.  It was a long time coming, but whoa once he got going, he just took off. At the end of this post, I posted a bunch of behind-the-scenes photos of what it was like to try to take this monthly picture. I didn't even post HALF of the ones I took while trying to get him to sit and look at the camera. I am not complaining for one tiny second though. I love it. And he is SO much happier now that he can move and get to where he wants on his own. Aiden gained 3.7 ounces this month (which puts him at 18 lb 15.2 oz). He's still below the 5th percentile, but he's making growth!

Isabella signed her first word, "eat" and then said her first word, "eat" and second word, "up." Mr. Howard and I thought it was HILLARIOUS that the first word she both signed and said was "eat" considering she isn't a huge fan of food. She likes the flavor of stuff, but wasn't really swallowing a whole lot of solids until VERY recently. But, the good news is that she gained 15.3 ounces this month (which puts her at 17 lb 2.7 oz )!! She's still below 5th percentile, but she's making growth!! We'll go back for another weight check in a month.
They are both eating avocado, sauteed vegetables, banana, crackers, pasta, chicken, mango, cheese (ooh they love cheese sticks), strawberries, rasberries, blue berries, pancakes, (Daddy made them their first pancakes this past Thursday), yogurt, cereal bars, puffs, and I'm sure more I'm forgetting. My "Mama of the Year Award" moment last night was when I gave them a microwavable Weight Watchers pasta meal that I had in the freezer. I know. I'm sure it has way too much sodium and WAY too many preservatives...but I was exhausted and Mr. Howard was at work until late and I did not want to cook. Despite the fact that it probably wasn't the best thing for me to give them, they LOVED it...as in gobbled up the entire dinner (between the two of them). They have JUST discovered food finally and are finally eating real food. They now get whole food at every meal. I'm telling you...the turning point for us was using the philosophy of baby led weaning (giving them whole foods instead of mashed up baby food versions of the real thing). Miracles. Thanks Erin!!!

We still haven't started their once weekly therapies (the provider is short staffed and we are limited in when we can do it - because of the fact that we both work). Our first one is either this Tuesday or next...I've already forgotten.

Such a productive, good month!!!

Outtakes of my attempt to get a picture of Aiden. They are in order from left to right, top to bottom.

LOVE this! I didn't walk until I was 15 months old:) My mom says I just preferred to be carried. Love that they are doing so well.

I snorted when I read the Weight Watcher lunch part... Lol. I've never done it but I have thought about it MANY times!

Love Aiden's outtakes ;)
