Where's my cape?

Duh...duh, duh, duh... SUPER MOM...

I can happily say that I have survived five days and four nights with three kids three-years-old and younger, two dogs, a teacher job, and half of my sanity, minus my hubby. He has been on a business trip and should be home tonight. I do not for one second take it for granted that I have a husband who helps out so much and is home for the majority of the time. I absolutely cannot imagine having a husband in the service. You spouses are amazing!!

Not only did I just miss him (have I mentioned that we have not been apart for longer than a night or two since we've been married?), but I also missed my partner in crime, my child wrangler, and my nighttime snuggler. He really is my best friend and not talking to him as much...or not waking up next to him...or not drinking our coffee all took such a toll on me. Really, the bottom line is, I just MISSED him.

The kids weren't too thrilled about being away from him either. Although, I will say that Connor seemed to deal with it a little better than the others (I would have guessed the opposite to be true). Aiden, as you can see from the picture below, was super confused about seeing him on the phone and not in person.
And can we just talk about being a single parent. I thought parenting was hard a week ago? Whoa. It's a million times harder as a single parent. My mom still helped with dinner every night which was SUCH a lifesaver, but pickups, drop offs, bathtime, bedtime, morning time, playtime, teeth brushing, tantrums, discipline, car refereeing, hugs and snuggles, bottles and sippy cups - that was all done with my Supermom Cape on. Whew. I'm exhausted.

So, first I want to say THANK YOU to all you single moms and dads. You are amazing!! And THANK YOU to all the service men and women who stay home. You are AMAZING. And finally, thank you to my wonderful husband whom I adore and cherish. Hope you like giving the kids baths, because you're on your own for the next few nights, pal!

I say ALL. THE. TIME. that I admire moms with husbands serving our country. They really give up so much and deserve so much praise!

I'm not actually a single mom, but my husband works a full time night job and farms the rest of the time. Which means that he is either at work, sleeping, or at the farm. Somedays he doesn't see our 3 young kids at all or most days, just for a few brief minutes before he's gone again. Which means that not only do I get to do pretty much ALL the parenting by myself, but I also get to have 1 extra person to clean up after, cook for, wash laundry for, and take care of. It's hard, but I know he's doing his best and he is a great dad!
