Building Our House - Drywall Tape and Stucco

March 24, 2013 - We kept hoping they'd start the stucco on the outside, since we knew that it would coincide with them taping the drywall! So we were so excited when we showed up on the 24th and saw they had done the first coat of stucco!

When we showed up the day before, they were taping and mudding the drywall in the family room. On Sunday we were able to get pictures:

March 30, 2013 - When my mom and I showed up, we were shocked at everything they had done in only a couple days!!

They installed all our doors!! These are the doors on Connor's closet (his room is the only one that will not have a walk-in closet):
 Our pillars were installed!!
They textured all our walls and installed our baseboards:
They poured the concrete for our driveway and front door walkway and did the "finish coat" or the last coat of stucco on our house:

They installed all the shelves in the house (in all the bedroom closets, laundry room, pantry, and linen closets). This is our walk-in pantry:
March 31, 2013 - Mr. Howard was SUPER eager to get over to the house to see everything my mom and I had seen. We also needed to measure all the windows in the house because we need to order blinds ASAP.

This was the very first time we let the kids run around the house. Normally we keep them in the car, because it hasn't really been safe.

Daddy was measuring the window in the tub. The kids wanted to join him:
These columns and arches were two of my FAVORITE things about this house!! They turned out so great!

In addition to all the contractors working their tails off, we've been trying to finalize a whole bunch of stuff for the house! The first thing on our to-do list was figuring out our island. Mr. Howard and my dad are going to do a custom 62 x 64 island. Below are all the drawings we created to try to figure out what we like best. In the end, we didn't choose any of these five drawings. We came up with something different that I'm super excited about. I am actually SUPER excited because I'm going to have six 24 inch wide drawers to put my pots and pans in!! I've always wanted a drawer for pots and pans!

We got the estimate back from the painter and it came back so low, we were actually able to add in our Master Bedroom too! So...we'll be getting our living room, family room, butler's pantry, kitchen,  the downstairs and upstairs hallways, the playroom, and master bedroom painted. We chose our color, already. I wrote about it and included a few pictures in THIS post.

Also, after about 10 stores and LOTS AND LOTS of discussions, we found Connor a bed. We really went through a million ideas, but in the end - he was most excited about having a "ladder". We found this bed below that has storage at the bottom, a full and twin, and (Connor's favorite part) a ladder! We are ready for sleepovers (yikes!).

Crazy, right? I'm worried about the ladder with a four-year-old, but I can't keep him itty forever. Right? Ha!
