Building Our House - A Kitchen and Beautiful Stone on the Front

On April 5, 2013, I stopped by the house to check on the progress and I was so excited to see that they had installed our cabinets, framed our stair rail, and were working on the tile. But I was SOO bummed because I couldn't go in to check on it, as there was a big crew in there working and I had all the kids in the car. I didn't want to leave them, so I just snuck in the garage and snapped this photo. It was all I could see. And I was DYING!
So, on April 6, 2013 we woke up early, threw some clothes on the kids and drove over to see the house!! I couldn't have been more excited! They installed the cabinets, painted, put in the tile, and framed out the stair case. It was finally starting to look like a house!
You can see they still needed to install the appliances, granite counter tops, and the electrical boxes.
These are the cabinets in our Butler's Pantry (that cardboard box had supplies in it - it serves no other purpose in being there).
They painted the inside of our walk-in pantry and put the tile in:
Here's Isabella's room all painted (Yes, she's crying. I don't even know. She's two). I am, however, loving the LL Cool J pants look she's got going on.
Here's Connor's room. He was picking out where he wanted to put his bunk bed (right where he's standing):
Here's Aiden's Room. He loves his window!:
The kids and hubby on the stairs. Love, love, love my cuties!
On April 8, 2013 we stopped by in the morning and they were putting the stone and brick on our house. Holy Moly excitement! We were super surprised because we thought they would paint the house BEFORE putting the stone on. But obviously they did it in reverse.
At 4pm, later that day - they had almost finished it! They only had a little bit left at the top and then some of the stone and brick on the other side of the garage left to do.
Here's a picture of where they left off:
On April 9, 2013, when I showed up I knew it was going to be finished. But I didn't know how much I would love it! The wall was still just the grey stucco color, so I couldn't wait to see it with the paint and dark trim and garage!
Here's a zoomed out picture of all the stone on the house:
They also had graded the front yard. It looked SO much better!
The next day (April 10, 2013) when I showed up, they had painted most of the house and installed the awning over Isabella's window upstairs! (The door still needs to be painted a sort of brown/maroon) and they had planted some of the plants!

Here is a more full picture (at 4pm the sun is in the WORST spot for photos. The photos always look washed out):
Everything was moving so quickly and we weren't expecting to see much else on the outside of the house, but on April 11, 2013 Mr. Howard drove past in the morning and saw them installing our rain gutters!
Later in the evening, we put the babies to bed and asked my mom if she'd listen for them while we went and spent some time looking at the house. We wanted to see if they had installed the granite (they hadn't). Here was the house later that evening when the rain ducts were all installed:
They also started putting wood chips in front of the house and planted a tree! You can also see where they've sort of divided our front yard. The front half will be grass and then by the door will be bark and plants.
Here's Connor standing at our door:
Daddy, Connor, and Mama at the front door:
It is insane how fast it is all coming along! We spoke with escrow yesterday and we scheduled an appointment to sign our papers on the 26th. The builder's realtor casually mentioned that she thought escrow had been pushed back a week. So we're in the process of trying to figure out whether or not our contractor is, in fact, a week behind. I'll be bummed if that's the case, but honestly - they've done so well with the timeline that if that's really it, I shouldn't complain (minus the mistake they made in the beginning that set us back 2-3 months to no fault of the contractor AT ALL, we've been 100% on schedule ever since they broke ground). So, I should know soon! A week isn't that big of a deal, except that we have a painter scheduled for May 2nd...that and, Oh, WE'RE LIVING WITH MY PARENTS!!!! To say, we're all ready for own homes back - would be such an understatement.

I have a million things to show you inside the house, but seeing as though this post already contains 2.1 million photos, I'm going to have to do a part 2. I also have to show you the turned island legs we bought. They arrived a few days ago!
