Building Our House - Final Walkthrough

Late one evening on the 29th we went and signed all our escrow paperwork (I had just come from a HARD workout). My mom was gracious enough to watch the kids for us while we ran over there.

Our house was finally completed on April 30th, 2013 (technically it was completed on the 29th - but we did not complete our final walk-through and get the keys until the 30th), which was 100% on schedule. Can you believe it? I was so prepared for it to not go on schedule, because EVERYONE and their mom kept warning us that it would probably take longer, but our superintendent was sooo fabulous. Seriously. We closed and recorded the loan at about 2pm that day! Our realtor said that in the time it took our ENTIRE house to be built, financed, and closed - he had been working with a different bank for the exact same amount of time to close on a normal house (that was already built) with a normal buyer/seller a few cities away. So, while it felt like it took a long time for the house to be built (mainly because we were living with my parents), it was actually pretty fast (not counting the huge mistake they made on our original lot).

Here we are at our final walk through:
That evening we brought the kids over, ordered a pizza and did a few small projects to the house. We picked up our new pottery barn table too. The following pictures are all before the painters came:

And our first project. We updated the faucet (see how teeny-tiny it is?):
He obviously had the best, most helpful helpers of all time, Aiden:
 And our new chrome one:
We actually have done more since this picture (we added the sprayer), but at least you can see the difference:
On May 2nd and 3rd our painters arrived and so our house already looks SO different. I'm going to try to whip out some more posts this week and get myself completely caught back up!!
