You gave us our most cherished titles

For those of you who have been following my blog for a long time, you already know that we tried to get pregnant for a year with Connor. I know it isn't a lifetime, but boy it sure felt long. We had been seeing my OB, and even though she was wonderful, she really didn't want to start doing anything until we had been trying for an entire year (no wiggle room in that at all). On the day before my scheduled appointment with a fertility specialist, the doctor's office called to confirm my appointment and make sure I still wasn't pregnant. I took a pregnancy test and to my complete and utter shock, I was! We were overjoyed!!

Those nine months flew by and before I knew it, it was time for our baby to be delivered.  We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl and so at 4:35am, after hours 12 hours of labor, my husband joyously cut the umbilical chord and said, "Mama, are you ready to meet Connor James Howard?" It was so sweet that my husband was able to tell me that we had had a boy! I really can't imagine a more perfect way to learn my baby's gender.
And then that first year flew by. I couldn't believe that you were one. You fit so much into those 12 months and accomplished things that some people aren't able to in a whole lifetime, including traveling to Italy.
Your second year was huge because you became a big brother three times over. First, your little brother Cole was born in September of 2010 and then your little brother and sister were born in June of 2011. Right from the very beginning you were just a sweet big brother. You never got jealous at all and just welcomed the twins into our little family with open arms.
Your third year was spent making all sorts of adjustments and reaching so many amazing milestones. We celebrated your third birthday with a big family vacation to Disneyland.
And now, somehow 1,408 days have passed since we first met you. It feels like you were always a part of our family and we can't imagine a world without you in it. You have brightened our lives, taught us things we never knew we needed to know, and blessed us infinitely. You were the little 7 lb 13 oz boy who gave us our most cherished titles - Mama and Daddy - and for that we are forever grateful. We love you to the moon and back, our handsome boy / our bubba / our biggest little love.
