Week 4 Half Marathon Training

This week, here is what I was supposed to do:
Here's what I really did. This was a BAD week. Bad, bad, bad. I've been so busy and I just couldn't manage to fit it all in.
Monday - I do speech therapy with the twins on Mondays - so I couldn't get in my run.

Tuesday - I didn't run. Yikes, guys. This is usually my sure bet day - but the kids were sick and I really wanted to be home to help my hubby with a second set of hands.

Wednesday  - This is usually my zumba day. But this week I didn't do it. I had a hair appointment and there was no way to get both in.

Thursday - This is usually my zumba day and I was planning on doing it, but I think because of the rain, everyone skipped out. I also had an important work call I had to make. Do you see a theme here? I'm pretty sure I've started every day with "this is usually..."

Friday  - I didn't run. This makes 6 days since I ran! Yikes!

Saturday - It was raining, but I had had a horrible week and I REFUSED to let the rain be an excuse. Period. So I went and purchased a running rain jacket on Friday and new gloves and got my butt in gear. I had to leave my house at 6:15 in the morning on Saturday and I was SO tired! Everyone was sleeping and it was windy and raining. But I did it. I RAN 8 MILES. Here's a 6am selfie:
Fleet feet teaches you NOT to do static stretches before a run (lunges, calf stretches, etc.). Instead they advocate dynamic stretches. Because it was so cold, we did a couple warm up activities (walking on our toes...heels...high knees) to get us warmed up before we headed out.
Here was our group out there in the rain:
My adorable friend Leslie insisted on taking one of me out in the rain. It started out pretty dry which was a great way for us to warm up. I kept my gloves on for about half the run and then I got warm - but I was definitely thankful to have them! They're going to be a staple on those 7am runs!

Sunday  - we had a million things to get done on Sunday and so running took a back seat. Boo! Horrible week!!

Today's a new day and I'm starting over. This week will be a MUCH better week.
