Week 5 Half Marathon Training

To follow along on my Second Half Marathon journey, click HERE. This week, here is what I was supposed to do:

Here is what I really did:
Monday - I rested.

Tuesday - I did 50 minutes of running. We did 3.92 miles (we did a loop on the trail - up one side of the lake, crossed a bridge to the other side of the lake, and then came back...and then did that same loop one more time). Then we came back and did core and stretching. For core, we did pushups, planks, bicycles, squats, and the superman.

Wednesday - I was supposed to do zumba, but no one showed up. So, instead, I came home, changed into my running stuff, and ran 5 miles. Go me. Before photo on the left and after on the right. I hate wearing my hair up and I always think, "Today is going to be the day I don't need to put my hair up" and then inevitably, midway through my run, I'm frantically searching for a hair-tie.
Thursday - I was supposed to do zumba, but only one person showed up. So, instead I came home, changed, and did 30 minutes of a core workout with the app on my phone.

Friday - I rested.

Saturday - I was SOOOO tired when my alarm went off at 5:45am and I wanted nothing more than to stay in bed and sleep a little longer - especially after all the champagne hubby and I drank on Valentine's Day. But, I got my bootie in gear and didn't allow myself any excuses (hence the, "I didn't stay in bed!! I did 8 miles!!" face in the photo below). We did our 8 mile run and then did stretching. I didn't do my core with my group, because I needed to rush to get the kids from Mr. Howard so he could go to work.
When I got home, and before I showered, I did 20 minutes of core while the kids watched, laughing. There's nothing like a boost to your self confidence by having three small children ask you why you're sweating...and why you can't do the bicycle exercise for longer...and why you look like you're about to cry on your 20th pushup. Ha!

Sunday - Tomorrow hubby is going to a car show with Aiden and my mom's taking Connor to the movies, so Izzy and I are going to go on a run! I plan on getting more than 35 minutes in!

You must have the runtastic app:) I love it! I have been running four mile about every other day and it is awesome! I need to add in some weight trading but haven't had a chance to get to the gym! I love to know how fast your going I saw your easy run was in 50 min my 4 miles takes about 54min with some big hills and yesterday I did 5 in 1:08 I have not come close to 8 yet, your awesome:) I love more tips!

GOOD FOR YOU, Tesha!!!! That's amazing! I usually run/walk a 14 minute mile. I run 2 minutes, walk 1, which usually takes me a tiny bit under 14 mins to do one mile! Honestly, because I was training for a half marathon, I wasn't too worried about my time; I knew the distance would give me the workout I needed. But now that I have a time-goal for myself, I've been caring a little bit more. You are doing a fantastic job!
