Weekend Recap

The twins had 102 fevers on Friday. Poor babies! So far, Connor hasn't gotten it.

Friday night I had a genius moment. Connor was begging me for Macaroni and Cheese and I was home by myself and didn't want to make two meals for the kids and me. I was already making portabello mushroom Parmesan for myself, so I told him I was making the kids something "SPECIAL." I kept wracking my brain about how to present the idea of the mushrooms to them as something that would garner an equivalent reaction to macaroni and cheese, and I decided to tell them I was making them little pizzas! Sure enough, they were thrilled! They each got their own "pizza" and ate it happily. Feel free to be impressed...or horrified at my ability to lie to my children. Either way, I am impressed.
My adorable hubby texted me a few days ago and told me he had a surprise for me. He texted me a sneakpeak photo and I was so excited! This is what he brought home. We're still trying to figure out the perfect home for it! We thought we liked it here by the fireplace. We have curtains that go from the window to the floor here and we haven't hung them, because we weren't sure if we were going to try to find a longer horizontal bookshelf that fills this whole space (and thereby need much shorter curtains). We thought this table might look nice with floor length curtains framing it. But I just really think it's too small, though. So we have a few other home ideas for it!
My Mother's Day present arrived early! Hubby bought me the Gazebo I've been drooling over from Costco (photo from website)! The present is clearly for both of us, but hubby really wanted a wooden gazebo, so the present part was agreeing to go with the one I loved! It's a 14x16 Laurentin gazebo and it's currently sitting in our garage, waiting for assembly! We're having stamped/stained concrete poured in our backyard right now and our awesome concrete guy is hoping to start pouring this week! He already set the string lines and stakes on Thursday and then started framing Friday. Once the pad is done for our patio, we'll get this baby built! I am so excited!!
On Saturday, we all went over to my parents' house for a tri tip BBQ with my parents, brother, and soon-to-be sister-in-law! The kids had a lot of fun splashing around in the first few steps of the pool (I brought my swimsuit and was prepared to go in, but it was C-O-L-D!).
And then afterwards, when we put the kids in bed, I went on my first run in a while. I am determined to get back into it. I have felt discouraged with all my working out and eating right and not seeing any progress (because of the medicine I'm on). Have I mentioned how much I'm loving my Garmin Forerunner 10? It's absolutely perfect for a beginner like me!
I am ALSO loving that I was able to go on a run at 7:45pm and still have light. The sunset was gorgeous!
Have you seen my recipe for homemade acai bowls? Holy deliciousness! They are amazing! Pin it for later HERE.

Haha! Parenting is all about choice in presentation. =) I choose to present the mushroom as a pizza.
