Meandering

My little sister and I took the kids on a hike a few weeks ago.
I am a firm believer in hikes being good for the soul. If ever there was an appropriate time to reference Ralph Waldo Emerson, surely this is it (and, let me tell you, the English teacher in me sits around WAITING for any chance I have to quote Emerson). "To finish the moment, to find the journey’s end in every step of the road, to live the greatest number of good hours, is wisdom." It isn't about the destination; it's about the journey.
Sometimes with little kids, I forget that. I'm so busy getting to where I need to be...so busy crossing to-do's off my list, that I sometimes forget to cherish the journey.
