Disneyland

I had planned on doing the Orange County Half Marathon with my best friend and was SO excited. Because I was going to be running, we decided to only take one kid down with us and arranged for my mom to watch Isabella and my sister to watch Aiden. But then, a week before we were to go down there, it became apparent that my injury was not getting any better and I was beyond disappointed. We decided to continue with the trip and make it really special by taking Connor to Disneyland on Saturday.

I am a huge believer in doing the character breakfast. It gives you an opportunity to see the majority of the main characters, right at the beginning of the day and then you don't have to stand in character lines the rest of the day! I so recommend this if you have little kids and limited time at the park! We did the breakfast right at park opening (so 9:15am!)

At the breakfast, they do a photo for you too before you head into the buffet. I'm a total sucker for cute photos and can't pass them up!
Connor really understood Disneyland. He knew what a big deal it was. He knew the characters names. He could rationalize rollercoasers and what was going to happen. And he could wait in lines. It was perfect.
I don't know how we lucked out so much, but the ride lengths were perfect. We never waited longer than 30 minutes, since we got fast-passes for all the rides with long lengths. I totally recommend getting a ride wait time app. It was super helpful and guided us the whole day!
Even though Mr. Howard and I had annual passes when we lived in Southern California and have been to Disneyland 50 or more times, we had never had a Dole Whip or a Dole Whip Float. In full disclosure, I don't like pineapple, so it was never high on my list. But it really was amazingly delicious. Even though I don't like the flavor of pineapple, I gobbled up what Connor didn't want of his dole whip soft serve.
The highlight for me? The clam chowder bread bowls! Ahhhhhh. I purposely didn't have lunch and had a healthier breakfast, so that I could indulge in this bread bowl for dinner without a care in the world. I joked that it's the only time it's acceptable to eat an entire loaf of bread for dinner.
In the afternoon, my cousin Kira and Uncle John were able to come and meet us! It's always so hard to fit everything in when we're down there. I am BEYOND OVERDUE for a visit with my friends Sara, Allison, Amy, and more - but it's always so hard to fit it all in. Hubby and I are planning a visit down there this summer, just for that purpose. But I was so thankful that Kira and John could meet us at Disneyland - so that we could get in some catching up.
